The Club of Friends
of the Shrine of the Divine Mercy in Płock
As it is generally known the Płock convent of the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy witnessed the first revelation of Merciful Jesus to St. Sister Faustina, during which she was ordered to paint a picture with the caption: Jesus, I trust You. The event which commenced spreading of the Devotion to the Divine Mercy aimed at the Church and the whole world makes us realise the exceptional significance of this place for fostering the cult of the Divine Mercy in Poland and abroad.
Currently, the Shrine of the Divine Mercy in Płock is a small chapel, which can at most hold approximately 250 persons. In response to the ever-increasing number of pilgrims and with a view to ensuring decent conditions for their visits the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy took up the challenge of the expansion of the Shrine. The construction works were started on 15 May 2015. It is worth mentioning that almost 20,000 pilgrims from 53 countries came here in the year 2016.
The Club of Friends of the Shrine of the Divine Mercy in Płock was established on the initiative of the persons sincerely interested in the development of the Shrine and convinced that it needs to be expanded for intercession and spreading of the Devotion to the Divine Mercy as well as creating conditions for the visitors that will foster prayer and experience of God’s goodness. In this was the Club in cooperation with the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy joins in the work of Jesus’ mercy. The Club has no structures (chairperson, board, commission, general meeting) or meetings with obligatory attendance. It is a very loose association of friends of the Shrine of the Divine Mercy. What matters more to us is strong bonds of the Club members with the Shrine and the Divine Mercy. Club membership may be had by organisations, companies, individuals or married couples – there are no limitations regarding a legal form.
The new Shrine “is growing”. The beginning of the construction and its progress can be followed on a regular basis from the moment of its commencement up to now in the gallery. We started the web site of the Shrine of the Divine Mercy in Płock jointly with the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy in 2016 whereas the Club was established and started its activity in January 2017. Its objective is supporting the development of the Shrine of the Divine Mercy and spreading of the Devotion to the Divine Mercy. Currently, one form of this support is financial assistance related to the construction of the new facility. Further details concerning the activity of the Club of Friends of the Shrine are to be found in its Rules and Regulations.
If you find in yourself desire to get involved in the course of the Christian work of mercy in the above mentioned form and want to join our Club, complete and send us a scan of the declaration to the e-mail address of the Club Secretariat with the subject of the message: Klub Przyjaciół SBM (Club of Friends of the Shrine of the Divine Mercy).
